July 2007 - We have arrived! - Monday, July 02, 2007
We have all arrived safely to our temporary housing in Vienna.  We will spend the next several weeks searching for apartments, opening bank accounts, registering with the government and getting settled in.  Please continue to pray for us during this time of transition.

March 2007 - Devoted Grandmother, we will miss you

We have experienced another loss amongst our team as Amanda’s grandma, Patricia Colleen Souther, passed away March 12th 2007. She was born January 16, 1926 in Bryant, Illinois to Roy and Mildred Maloon McDaniel and married Hobert Souther on January 11, 1954. Most her life she preferred to be called Colleen, but to us she was Nana. I only knew her for a short time but the impact she’ll have on my life will continue because of the role she played in helping mold my wife, Amanda, from a curly haired little girl into a beautiful woman. She was a source of stability for Amanda during turbulent times and played a major role in her upbringing. She also encouraged her spiritual, artistic, and culinary development at a young age. Nana had her own ceramic shop where she made a vast array of ceramic creations. Of course I am grateful for the spiritual encouragement and I have really enjoyed the french cookies and roasted turkey aspects of her influence. Not all traits have helped to pack on pounds, one has helped lighten my load, in the bank account that is. She loved to take Amanda shopping, which for some reason she has yet to outgrow. Nana had a quick wit, a soft heart, and a sweet tooth. She was a sister, mother, mentor, friend, and even though her legacy will live on, she will be missed.
